I am excited to share with you all a little bit about myself, how my past influences my
current decisions and where I am planning to be in the future. First, my name is La Niecia’ Vicknair, but most people call me Coach Lala V. I am full heartedly dedicated to living an active lifestyle and always have been since I was a little girl.
My past participation in gymnastics, dance, basketball, cheerleading, and stepping all catered to maintaining a positive image of myself and becoming an influential contributor to those around me. After receiving a B.A. in Interior Design and starting my own creative business, I felt something was missing from life, and my work wasn’t fulfilling. I deeply reflected on my life and what truly made me happy, and I came to the realization that my happiness revolved around my number one support system, my family. Although every family has its adversities, mine was battling one of the most prevalent disorders in the US, obesity.

Ever since I was young, I have dealt with growing up in an overweight family. I have personally witnessed the setbacks and major health risk obesity can have on a person, more specifically my dad. I have been concerned with my dad’s weight since I was a little girl and always worried about potential life threats, who was snickering about him, and what restaurant we could go to that he would be able to fit in the seats. My main goal was to help him achieve a healthy lifestyle because seeing him achieve would have been fulfilling a part of me that has always longed to help him.
So about a year and a half ago, I became a health coach for Herbalife. Herbalife changed my life around and sparked my interest in wanting to learn more about living a healthy lifestyle so I can give others more than just supplements and words of advice. I decided to take this desire further by becoming a certified personal trainer. This was it! I could finally help and educate my dad, the rest of my family, and those who needed it the most on how to take better care of themselves. I was extremely successful with helping my clients, including some family members, get desired results. This further motivated me to take another step and become a nutrition specialist so I could design meal plans and educate others on how to jumpstart a healthy eating schedule. I wanted to inspire those around me to create a healthy lifestyle around being “FITNHEALTHY”!
I was on a great path and truly optimistic about my future in helping others, then February 8, 2015 happened. My father died, and at first, all I could think was I failed. I was not able to help him soon enough. Naturally, I took some time to myself and reevaluated my purpose. I took a hiatus from my clients and decided to focus on me. From this I was able to understand that I have a purpose bigger than my personal goals, and that purpose is to continue to help others strive for becoming a better them. I lost my first love, my father, but that trial in my life is more motivation for me to continue being an inspiration for those who cannot aspire to achieve on their own. I want to learn all that I can so I can share that knowledge to assist people in getting their lives back. Although I was unable to help my dad in ways I dreamed to, his death has ignited a different type of flame within me. I am now more eager to find out how I can help more people begin their journey of living a healthier life, and I will continue my journey in becoming a better model for my clients and the people I serve. This blog is and will be a positive outlet that offers information for achieving that lifestyle you always wanted have.

Remember to “STRIVE FOR PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION,” because no one is perfect. I hope you enjoy this blog, and I look forward to hearing from you and being a part of your change!
